Renewable Energy Home Design Assignment

Research options for a renewable energy powered home, and integrate selected renewable energy systems into a home of your own design.

1. Design includes a floor plan and various elevation sketches having clearly labeled components of the energy systems.  Design includes size in square footage and detailed description of building materials - especially those that relate to energy savings or energy production.  The latitude and climate of the location of the home must be identified.

2.  Written description includes a rationale for the energy production and energy conservation systems selected for the design.

3.  A bibliography must be submitted detailing your sources.

4.  Calculations.  Use the size of your home, the calculated natural gas and electricity per month, and the cost of that energy to determine the number of years to pay off the cost of installing the renewable energy production and conservation systems in your home design.

5. Study the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center.
